The song was written by Toby Gad, Lindy Robbins and Kerli Koiv and also produced by Gad for Lovato’s third studio album titled Unbroken. It is said that Skyscraper was inspired by a picture of the Apocalypse. The world and everything else was ruined but fortunately, one skyscraper was still standing. Kerli was the person who originally recorded “Skyscraper” and Gad the producer/writer presented it to Lovato.
I can say Demi Lovato Skyscraper was accepted by the artist because she wanted to record a song, she knew right away that both she and her fans could relate to it. The singer was so right because when recording it in 2010, Lovato got very emotional the song became her own personal tale and also triggered outbursts and caused her to start crying. She entered a treatment facility later that year because she was dealing with her personal struggles something that all of us at some point whether you want to admit it or not. She re-recorded the song after she got out, but kept the original version because it is “symbolic” to her. The piano in the beginning of the song is awesome and the heavy percussion that accompanied the song brings out the emotions.
